Home of the Original Kindness Is Everything Project

In November of 2016, a group of women came together with an idea after seeing a local, handwritten sign in Madison, Wisconsin. The idea was simple: spread this message of love, decency, and tolerance. Plant it in the ground.

From that first handwritten sign, these women recruited a friend and talented graphic designer - Kristin Joiner - to create the image. They all posted it to Facebook, and the image went viral. People were hungry to affirm our common humanity, and it showed.

These incredible women made their image available for purchase and initially raised over $7,000 to support the ACLU Wisconsin.  In December of 2016, the image and #KindnessIsEverything campaign was gifted to the Wisconsin Alliance for Women's Health (now Embolden WI) in hopes that more funds could be raised to support a worthy cause.  We have since established a CafePress and Zazzle store fronts to sell available products to benefit our important work.  From December 2016 through June of 2020, over $150,000 was raised to support the health, safety and economic security for Wisconsin women and girls thanks to this incredible gift from the amazing originators of this message and image!
